mummy came to visit on the weekend, we had a splendid time. ate good food, shopped, went out drinking. yes, drank with my mother. it felt kind of wierd.
on thursday a shitload of Harry Potter enthusiasts from my rez went out to see the midnight showing of GOF on the Imax screen. Imax screen was amazing, definitely worth it if ur seeing that movie. And i was pleasantly surprised that i actually did enjoy the movie. They did leave out a massive amount, and it was basically one big summary of the book, but the stuff they DID leave in was hardly ruined. Except for Moody's eye, that was a pretty giant screw up. And also i've come to expect so little from the movies that i'm usually not expecting some kind of masterpiece of exactly what i had imagined while reading the books. So anyway, the actor who plays Cedric Diggory - on the list, no question. Daina i'm sure you'll agree the second you lay eyes on him. Harry gets hotter in this movie too, and theres even a topless scene where his defined pectorals are displayed. i'd tap that, and therefore i vote him to get upgraded on the list to possibly in the top ten? i dunno i might be too enthusiastic about it. This is the only potter movie that i'm considering going to see again. It was that good in my standards (which are high if you couldnt tell). Of course they over exagerrated bits, but that's come to be expected, so they just turn in to good quality cheese. bueno entertainment.
i got home from that at like 3:30 and then i had to finish up this term paper i had due the next day, so i went to bed at 4:30. Woke up at 7:45 to turn in essay. Jessica was not a pretty site that day. HA but is she ever? <-- this needs no comments
oh yeah and god damn it on saturday i didn't get coldplay tickets!! nooooo! i was/am still so pissed. But some exciting news is that i've decided to go down to U2 next weekend and possibly spend a stupid amount of money on scalper tickets. but it would be worth it man - U2 with Arcade Fire opening? when does that ever happen?

wireless internet will be the death of me. I'm sitting in class right now but instead of typing notes about Destruction: storm surge , i've decided live journal deserves an update. theres a new prof teaching today and he has some sort of accent of which i've been trying to figure out the origin all class. His name is cedric, what country usually names their ppl cedric? i think england has some but this is not british. Right now i'm thinking France French, or some kind of like scandinavian origin, like the ikea guy. But i'm getting pretty confident that its a France accent. definitely better than the Quebecois. he probably announced where he was from at the beginning of class but I was late so

yeah, so thanks everyone for not leaving comments for my last journal's A) RIDDLE, and B) MUCH NEEDE HAIR ADVICE. definitely thought there would be a mad rush to answer that riddle.... unless you're all still pondering it. thanks alot guys. don't know what i'd do without you.
what i did manage to accomplish today was not my pile of reading, but the purchasing of a shirt to wear to commencemet. its a black, black-sequined short sleeve wrap around thingy, and it will dress up jeans. i'll wear some kind of tank underneath (possibly my blue top shop top) and these black flats i got at payless. hooray.

Q: What breaks when you say it?

-comment ur answers

- Should I grow my hair out or cut it back to shoulder length like it was in the summer? (not a candy bar riddle but real question p.s.)
I thought it looked good when it was short but long hair is "in" i hear, and it is always fun to have long hair to toss around/curl/braid/style. Your input please? oh and i'm going to the hair dresser anyway soon so i'm doing something, the question is what. just thought i'd add that.

Thanksgiving weekend at home was so grand that it made going back to montreal as painful as it was to come here in september. but that makes it sound like hell here, which it's not. It's just hell to leave everyone in T.O.
I got home on thursday afternoon, actually did some reading on the train ride, and had dinner at my grandmas. It was my grandfathers bday, so a la european styles, we had a feast. That night i went out around the U of T campus with anja, so like the bloorish area of u of T. I really have no idea what i'm talking about here seeing as I couldn't tell you where the u of t campus is located for shit. Now that I think about it, probably the St.Georgeish area, since it's called the st. george campus. God that rambling was grandmotherly. sorry.
Got turned away from like 2 pubs that usually anja gets into, but finally we found this cool one full of students that let us in no prob. We decided not to order alcohol though just to be on the safe side. We just had cokes and a veggie platter. The place had a juke box and that was a lot of fun. We picked some songs but left before they got to playing them. No matter, because the people who were buying from the juke box had superb musical taste, and we heard songs that were like the ones we'd picked anyway.
On friday I went to ikea and bought a lamp for my room, and some candles. I went on a search for kiddie rubber boots at Walmart, but alas, my feet are one size too big to fit into the cute multicolored wellies. No way am i buying those clunky black boots from canadian tire. My dad cooked pasta with seafood (sooo good compared to cafeteria crap) for dinner.
Friday night daina and sara came over and brought pumpkin pasties and yummy shortbread cookies that were really good but made you feel like ugggh... after eating like 2. but they were damn good so usually u had 3 before realising the short period of ecstacy in your mouth wasnt worth the hour of your stomach feeling oily and shitty. but the pumpkin pasties were good, I think we all lost count of how many of those suckers we had. They should make them all year round.
the movie that was watched was Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story. Sooo fuckin hilarious. I gotta watch that agian sometime. Then we watched some old school SNL episodes, and i've concluded that the new SNL sucks ass. All the good people have gone, and the new ones are shit and no one cares about them. Like on saturday when i was watching, John Heder was on, and the 2 skits that i watched before turning it off were not even funny. I can't watch him act without seeing/hearing good old Napolean. Such is the curse of starring in a cult classic.
I went to the Eaton's Centre on saturday, bought some cool jewelry from H&M, and a sweet messenger-type bag from american eagle. Its kind of like burgundy velvet with a long strap. I was there with anja, and we saw a matinee of A History of Violence. We shat ourselves at how hot Viggo Mortensen is in that movie. Jesus there are some really erotic scenes. Very good acting throughout as well. EVERYONE GO SEE IT.
Went to Demetres with friends i knew from mastermind that night, and i had a crepe with apples and cinnamon. *drools*. I ran into persia, laura, adrienne, robyn, janet and ...... i think thats it. But yeah i was glad i got to see them cuz i probably wouldn't have that week otherwise. Except Laura! because i ran into her again on sunday down on bloor.
After Demetres we went to my friend Mickey's house to watch the Amityville Horror. pretty good, partly owing to the fact that ryan reynolds feels the need to spend a 3rd of the movie sans shirt.
Sunday was the day of feasting, but before i stuffed myself silly, i took a trip down to bloor street with my friend michelle. We went to trixie, where i bought new cords, and then just moseyed around. I also got 2 pairs of shoes from payless: greeny blue tweed ones and black satin quilted ones. both flats. both cute. In the afternoon all the family came over and we had turkey etc. and pumpkin pie for dessert.
on monday i did a small amount of reading for history, but other than that i just lazed around. At night i went to daina's to watch orli on oprah and to have more pumpkin pasties and to have carrot cake that sara made. Sara and daina surprised me with a compilation of photos commemerating our favourite inside jokes, all in a sweet frame. It was so nice of them, and the frame sits here on my desk infront of me now (Dont worry daina, it has a choice spot!)
Tuesday i met anja for a quick coffee before she went off to school, then i visited the rci caf and saw some old faces. Before i left for the train, i said goodbye to my grandparents, and my grandma loaded me up with........ get this: 6 brioche buns, a frigging tin full of cookies (all food homemade) and some almonds "for calcium and good snack while you study". On the train i saw my friends keiko and gurbani, both heading back to mcgill. That night back in res, in the spirit of the entire weekend, i neglected my studies and did meaningless activities the whole night.

» commencement
thanks everyone who replied to my inquiry about commencement clothes. while i didn't draw any conclusions as to what to WEAR, i did make the decision that this event obviously requires me to go shopping for an outfit. and accesorries of course. this may or may not include shoes. CHEERS EVERYONE!
